    New Media Studies refers to the many ways humans communicate as new and unpredictable changes occur in technology and society. Dr. Carlson will present a humorous and interactive look at the many aspects of communication that we take for granted each day. This talk will connect horses to the Hubble Space Telescope, show you how to count to 12 on your fingers, explain why wineglasses and water are so important, and challenge you to consider all the little things you do without thinking. Believe it or not, these are all integral to understanding how you communicate each and everyday.

    Kansas farmers’ markets across the state are doing much more than just providing a fresh food source. The farmers offering their produce, as well as the consumers taking advantage of the farm-fresh offerings are also simulating the local economy. There are now 130 active farmers’ markets in Kansas compared to the 26 in operation in 1987.

    Enjoy an afternoon of crafting at the Hays Public Library! This month we will be making marbled nail polish cards. A fun and inexpensive way to show someone you care! Materials will be provided for first ten participants. Bring a friend and make it a craft social.
