  3. Two Week Expedition to Ecuador with Sternberg Museum

    Ready for an adventure? The Sternberg Museum is proud to offer this two week program that will take students deep into the cloud forest of the Ecuadorian Andes on a hunt for wildlife of all shapes and sizes. Working with local guides, and Sternberg Museum educators and field scientists, students will participate in a sight-survey of plants and animals high in the mountains. This region is home to hundreds of species of birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles, mammals, and new plants around every turn. Students will learn how to take field notes, create field sketches, and use field equipment to document the amazing biodiversity of this incredible ecosystem. Along the way, students will learn about evolutionary process and mechanisms of natural selection through the unique wildlife we see and document.

    The Hays City Band, co-directed by Renetta Dawson and Matt Rome, is preparing for its summer season. The band is seeking area music students and teachers, and amateur and professional musicians to join. The group rehearses on Mondays in June from 7 to 9 p.m. at Malloy Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus.
